Dr. Rok Čeferin graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana in 1989. In the same year, he became employed as a trainee attorney at the law office of Dr. Peter Čeferin in Grosuplje. Upon becoming a full attorney following the conclusion of his traineeship, he founded the Čeferin Law Firm together with his father and brother, where he has worked as an Attorney-at-Law ever since.
In 2012, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “The Limits of Press Freedom in the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Court of Human Rights”, for which he was awarded the title of Doctor of Laws by the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana.
Dr. Rok Čeferin gives lectures to journalism students at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. Dr. Rok Čeferin is the author of the scientific monograph Meje svobode tiska (The Limits of Press Freedom) and of numerous articles dealing with civil law and human rights published in professional journals.
The Bar Association of Slovenia has bestowed the title of Specialist in Civil and Media Law on Dr. Čeferin.
Dr. Rok Čeferin was elected Judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia on 18 June 2019. In the course of performing this function, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Lawyers, the pursuit of a profession of lawyer is suspended.
